after SIX.

Showcase at 'Coffee and crust', Mandarin orchard after dinner, I was looking at their cakes and lady approached to me to say,

"It's all half price except whole cakes after 6pm".

Ohh...it's sweet whisper for me...

Let's try their cakes!! =P

light texture chocolate mousse. I thought more dark and dense chocolate.

I asked her to recommend dark chocolate cake and was suggested this hazelnut plarine cake. smooth and dark shocolate mousse covered with cocoa powder. Looked tasty but a little bit different from my liking kind.
not thick mousse, more like gelatine kind of mousse.

Also bought chocolates.

there were 6 flavours of chocolate.

Green tea inside was I guess red bean. very sweet!!! Chocolate rum was I guess whisky. not bad.

Mandarin Orchard, former name of Meritus Mandarin next to Taka, was re-newal opened together with brand-new Mandarin Gallery.

Its Buffet restaurant "triple three" is welcomed Japanese chef and fully renovated.

unique taste was deep fried caper. sour sour. rock lobster not bad.

Visited there for dinner, since I am very craving for buffet....hahaha
The buffet varieties are more Japanese style cuisines I felt.
From Sushi, sashimi, tempura, kushiage, teppan-yaki...of course, it is international buffet, others also available like indian cuisine, chinese cuisine and western cuisin...not to forget, seafood too...

desserts, just like aqua marine @ marina mandarin.

I liked these ice creams alot. saffron pistachio, berry berry and green tea.

Regret that a little bit pricy for this kind of buffet.
dunno next time go back again or not...

more spicy and more inside

It's only available for during festive period.

Handmade Prawn rolls and pineapple tart.

Slightly expensive than what you buy from bakery or confectionery, but it's much more tastier and quality maybe.

Prawn chill floss was nicely spicy and hard to resist stop eating.
hahaha

Feb 16, 2010

I baked prawn rolls and pineapple tart.

Prawn rolls, I found prawn floss then, thought of try make.
170deg for 13-15mins.
it rather healthier rolls than deepfried.

lighter and crispier than deepfried, maybe.

Pineapple tart, I made paste-like pineapple from Canned pineapple. Cut into small cubes or grate and simmer it till dry, about 1-2 hours.
170deg for 18mins.

Worm type. garnish egg yolk as usual.

Next year, I can bake it again =)

Prawn rolls are very fun to make too!

place with packed ingredients and pomelo...yup, I didn't add any fish...vege Yu Sheng instead.

Didn't add alot of plum sauce, but taste was I like!

Dessert of yesterday's dinner was - :
Burger King's Hershey's chocolate cake.

so he bought it for me...

It was not too sweet and not too heavy...I quite like that and look forward to try it again =)

And then, GOBI's Dark Chocolate Orange from me to him as Valentine's day cake...The dark chocolate mousse was thick and smooth but not too heavy too...nice with orange ganache in centre...

quite big size...share is just nice...$7.30 is too expensive for us...

If the size is slightly smaller and price also slightly more affordable then I can buy sometimes...

Shiu-chan cooked dinner for me,
I asked, 'Is that like a Valentine's day dinner???'
and
he said, 'Sort of...'

haha, I got such a sweet husband...

I prefer this shape than flower shape.

good news.

Nowadays you can buy Japanese Brown rice at ISETAN supermarket.
There is the machine for taking out brans too.

It comes a time to have take off 70% bran rice in Singapore...

It reminds me of going to self-used bran taking off machine in my hometown...I prefer to have 70% bran off rice than white rice. more chewy and tasty. More nutritious too.
(anyway nowadays I mostly eat breads only...=P)

self-used bran off machine at my hometown...
100yen runs 2mins, can take off bran for 10kg of rice.

Feel abit miss those rice...
